This was a complete overhaul of a 1960s ranch-style home, where the clients preferred not to embrace the original architecture.  An office den became a dining room, the dining room became part of the kitchen, and a small bar area was added. Our empty nester clients practiced hobbies like cooking, listening to music, and bird-watching, so we pulled these elements into the design scheme. We re-imagined the kitchen as a highly functional, central area for gatherings and frequent cooking.
